Green Turtle Cay Kitty Spay and Neuter Clinic

The Kitty Spay and Neuter Clinic went extremely well in GTC. The photo above shows Dr Derek Bailey prepping a kitty for surgery. FOAA is extremely grateful to Lynn Johnson for the use of her home for this clinic. Another clinic is scheduled for December 12th so we can really get a handle on this cat problem.
The above photo shows the volunteers that made this clinic possible. Left to right are Lynn Johnson, Karen McIntosh, Dr Derek Bailey, Judy Marshall, Sonya, Janie Thompson.

Here is a cart full of traps, containing cats. The cats were trapped Friday afternoon, kept inside over night and the clinic began Saturday morning. Twenty one cats were trapped, but three were too young to be spayed or neutered. Luckily homes were found for these kittens who will be spayed when old enough.

FOAA is seeking more donations of newspapers and old towels or sheets for the clinic in December. These can be dropped to Dr Bailey's office next to Abaco Hardware.

Other upcoming events to remember are Designer Desserts on Novmeber 27th and Royal Potcake Rescue Benefit Concert and Raffle on January 5th 2010.

Thanks again for following the FOAA blog and for your continued support.

Green Turtle Cay Spay and Neuter Clinic for Cats

On October 17th, a few volunteers from FOAA will be going down to Green Turtle Cay to do a spay and neuter clinic for the increasing cat problem. Dr. Bailey will be doing the surgeries, and hopefully if we can get down there on a regular basis we can prevent future litters of unwanted kittens on the cay.
We have a wish list of supplies that we will need....old towels, old sheets and newspapers. Any of these items can be dropped to Dr. Bailey's office, next to Abaco Hardware. And of course we are always grateful for financial donations as well.
Please share our blog address with your friends as well as sharing this as a post on Facebook.
Thank you for your continued support.

this weeks updates

Little black puppy, Elton, and little brown puppy Evie have been adopted.

Thanks so much to those of you who have shared our blog with friends, and those who "share" these posts on Facebook. Please continue to do so!!

Soon we will be letting everyone know all the wonderful desserts that have been donated to our "Designer Desserts" Silent Auction, that will take place on November 27th. We have cakes coming from Texas!!!! Isn't that awesome? And we have had a lot of generous people donate from right here in Abaco. I was amazed at how quickly the requests came in. Our goal was to have 20 different desserts and we have exceeded that number.....so check back and I will post a list to tempt you so you wont want to miss this event.

Another exciting, upcoming fundraiser is being organized by Royal Potcake Rescue in Atlanta. A big raffle with amazing prizes and a band from Atlanta. All the proceeds from this are going towards spay and neuter clinics all over Abaco. This event takes place on January 6th, 2010. Check out their website http://www.potcake.org/ for more details and to purchase raffle tickets.
I really didn't have a picture to post, so I used a picture of one of my many potcakes named Trixi.

Have a great weekend !

Cute Puppies for Adoption

We have 2 cutie pies currently in foster care that are waiting to be adopted to a loving home. This little guy in the above picture is a black male, about 6 weeks old who has been named Elton. He was found on the Abaco Highway near the Sandy Point airport. He is a little shy right now, but just needs some TLC.

The above picture is Evie, a brown and black female puppy that is about 14 weeks old. She was found under a car in Marsh Harbour.
Please email FOAA or comment under the photos if you are interested in adopting either of these potcake puppies.

Designer Desserts

Hello supporters of Abaco's animals!!!

Our next fundraiser will be a silent dessert auction called "Designer Desserts". It will take place at Hope Town Harbour Lodge on November 27th (the day after Thanksgiving), the same day as the art show.

We are looking for donations of fabulous desserts that people can serve at family get togethers and dinner parties. Cheesecakes, cakes, trifles, etc...... If the dessert can be frozen that is a bonus, since it can be used then or saved for later. If not...that is fine too since there are many people in town that weekend. Please contact us if you would like to donate a dessert or assist us financially.

Thank you!

We are now planning another fundraiser, which may take place in November. We are calling it "Designer Desserts", and it will be a dessert silent auction. Pies, cakes, cheesecakes trifles......just in time for holiday dinner parties.
