Ari was about eight months old when he appeared in my community. He wandered around for a couple of weeks before a gentleman took him in. He put the pup in a crate and drove around, asking if anyone knew who the dog belonged to. That's when I got my first look at him. He made such an impression on me that I took a picture of him.
Two days later he peeks into my door, and the rest is history. My husband and I never intended to keep him, so FOAA had him neutered, and the search for a good home was on. I "fostered" him for two weeks before he made a trip to West Palm to a possible home. I missed him terribly! When that home fell through, and was offered a chance to have him back permanently, I was over the moon!
It will be a year, in July, since that first fateful day. It was love at first sight, and he still brings me joy every day. Potcakes are a very special breed......best dogs ever. There is a perfect potcake out there for anyone willing to open their hearts and homes. I have mine...........

More Sweet Dogs for Adoption

Just a quick post to show you two dogs that are in need of a home.
The picture to the right is the spayed female.
She is about a year and a half old and is a sweet girl. It is hard to see in the photo but she has brindle markings.
Unfortunately these dogs are in a desperate situation. A Haitian man, who is a caretaker on someone else's property adopted these dogs and his boss, and owner of the property, had told him not to get any dogs. So he is not allowed to keep these dogs and they MUST find a home.

6th Annual Dog Walk
This Saturday, March 27th will be our 6th annual dog walk in Hope Town. It will start at Jarret Park, right by the public dock. The walk is 1.5 miles and ends back at Jarret Park where there will be a bake sale and prizes for the kids that got the most sponsors for the walk.
We will also have our new t-shirts on sale (the dog one above and the cat one below), as well as our logo t-shirt, and our burlap bags with the logo. T-shirts and bags are $20 each. Free t-shirt with $50 donation.
Hope to see you there!
If you are travelling from Marsh Harbour you can catch the 9am ferry and be there in time to participate. Sign up starts at 9:30 and the walk begins at 10.
If you bring your dogs, please have them leashed.

Two Special Dogs for Adoption
The tan and white male weighs about 26 pounds, and probably won't get much bigger, since he has maintained this weight now for about a month.
He is a bundle of energy and very friendly. Right now he is undergoing treatments at Dr. Bailey's office for a skin disorder, but will soon be ready for his forever home. He has one yellow eye and one blue eye, as you can see in the photo bel
ow.
He is also kennel broken, so will be very easy to house train, if he needs any house training at all.
This little guy was found along the road on the Treasure Cay Highway with patches of hair missing from the skin disorder.
The black and white dog is the little female that is looking for her forever home. She is also a small dog.
About 3 weeks ago she was run over on the Airport Road. The person who did this got out of his truck, looked at her and was getting ready to drive off when the lady behind him said, "are you just going to leave her there?". He of course replied "What am I supposed to do?" and left the scene. This lady then carried this sweet little dog into the vet's office for treatment, to find out that she had severely broken hips. She has had kennel rest for her hips, since nothing else could be done and is doing very well now. She will never be an agility dog, but will make a great pet. She is shy and timid, but still very friendly.
Through all of this she has never let out the first cry and is very content in her kennel, so again, housebreaking will either be a small issue or no issue at all.
We also have 2 other dogs looking for homes and we will be posting pictures of them in the next few days.
If you are interested in adopting either of these dogs please contact Friends of Abaco Animals for more information.
Please spay and neuter your pets to make our jobs a little easier.
